Cryin’ Shame play tough, headcuttin’ blues built around two guitars, harmonica and shared vocals. Drawing on the raw blues and R&B of the ’50s — when blues, country and rock ’n’ roll still happily bled into one another — the band favours groove, interplay and feel over polish, with a stripped-down sound built to move.
With one guitar holding down the rhythm and low end while the lead guitar cuts loose, the band leaves plenty of space for harmonica and vocals to move through the music. It’s a lean, unconventional line-up with a big raw sound — highly rhythmic and built to move a room.
James Lawley — lead guitar
Alex Haynes — vocals, guitar
Mat Walklate — vocals, harmonica
